Fire Safety: Summer and Grilling Edition

It's summer, which means it's also grilling season! Grilling can cook up some tasty treats for your family and friends! But, grilling can also come with harmful emergencies if not handled safely.
Did you know, July is the peak month for grill fires? Your local SERVPRO® of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties wants you to have a fun and safe summer. Consider the following tips to ensure your summer celebrations are disaster-free:
- Propane and charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors
- The grill should be placed away from the home, deck railings, and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets away from grill area.
- Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
- Never leave your grill unattended.
- When using a charcoal grill, let the coals completely cool before disposing in a metal container.
